Legon lecturers petition NPP over Abronye’s attacks on Ken Agyapong

A group of academics from the University of Ghana has formed a coalition. They call themselves Legon Lecturers and Professionals for Kennedy Agyapong.

They have petitioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership. Their focus is on Kwame Baffoe, known as Abronye. The group claims Abronye has made “distasteful” attacks on Kennedy Agyapong.

Agyapong is a former MP and plans to run in the 2028 primaries. Professor Alhasaan Suleman Anamzoya, the group's chairman, spoke to journalists on May 8. He emphasized that Abronye's actions threaten NPP unity.

Anamzoya said, “We have seen Chairman Abronye ranting about our candidate.” He believes the party has remained silent for too long. The petition focuses on Agyapong but aims for peace within the party.

He urged national leaders to address Abronye’s behavior for party harmony. “Nobody wants to attack anyone’s candidate,” he stated. He suggested promoting candidates instead of attacking them.

Anamzoya concluded that silence on these issues is harmful to the party's future.
