At the Democrat Union of Africa (DUA) Forum 2024 in Accra, Co-Chairman Louisa Atta-Agyemang condemned the recent surge in military coups in sub-Saharan Africa, urging a collective effort to bolster democratic institutions.
Highlighting unconstitutional power changes in six countries since 2020, she stressed the importance of strengthening democracy to address Africa's development challenges.
Atta-Agyemang also criticized recent constitutional changes in Togo that undermine democracy, and praised Ghana's Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for inspiring youth involvement in politics.
The forum brought together leaders from across Africa to discuss strategies for political stability and democratic governance.
