Kwabena Adu Boahene has been the Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB) since 2018. Since then, he has acquired significant wealth and prime real estate in Accra.

Investigations by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) suggest his wealth comes from fraudulent transactions. These are linked to a $7 million government contract scandal.

Boahene was arrested at Kotoka International Airport after returning from London. Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayeni revealed that millions meant for a cyber defense system were misused.

EOCO claims Boahene and his associates made excess payments disguised as government contracts. They redirected over GHS 39.4 million ($5.6 million) for personal use.

The investigation has connected Boahene to several properties in Accra’s Mayfair Estates, including:

- No. 2 Stream Part Drive, valued at $1 million (GHS 15 million).

- No. 6 Edith Avenue, bought with an initial cash deposit of $500,000.

- No. 7 Edith Avenue, acquired for $200,000.

Authorities suspect these properties were purchased using misappropriated state funds. Further investigations show that Boahene and his wife registered about ten companies under Advantage Solutions Limited.

This corporate entity is allegedly used to hide illicit transactions. Dr. Ayeni has warned banks against facilitating any related transactions in this case.

He emphasized that financial institutions and individuals involved will face prosecution. All assets linked to Boahene and his associates are now under surveillance, with movements being closely monitored.
