Mahama's 120-day address not worth applause – NPP Communicator

Emmanuel Senyo Amekplenu, a member of the NPP communications team, criticized President John Mahama's recent address. He described it as “not anything new or extraordinary.”

Amekplenu spoke on the Prime Morning Show on May 8, 2025. He argued that the President’s speech lacked substance and did not deserve applause from Ghanaians.

“President Mahama’s address is not anything new that deserves a clap,” he stated.

He compared Mahama’s renewed commitment to a struggling student trying to improve. “His demeanour is like a student who underperformed but wants to succeed now,” he added.

In a sarcastic tone, Amekplenu claimed the Mahama administration has deceived Ghanaians. He suggested that current leadership has manipulated public perception without delivering real progress.

Amekplenu also criticized members of the opposition NDC for hypocrisy. He noted that many who criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for tariff increases are now overseeing similar hikes. This includes a 14% increase in electricity tariffs and a 4% rise in water tariffs.

Regarding Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2462, which regulates mining in forest reserves, Amekplenu reminded Ghanaians of Mahama's promise. He said the President assured them he would work to repeal L.I. 2462 instead of just amending it.
