Mahama attends inauguration of Gabon's president-elect in Libreville

President John Dramani Mahama arrived in Libreville, Gabon, on Friday evening. He is there for the inauguration of President-elect General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 3.

General Nguema won a decisive victory in the April 12 election. He had been leading Gabon after a coup that ousted former President Omar Bongo.

President Mahama's attendance shows the strong ties between Ghana and Gabon. Under his leadership, Ghana is committed to promoting peace and security in Africa.

The President's delegation includes several key officials. They are National Security Advisor Prosper Douglas Bani, Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama, Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Xoese Dogbe.
