Mahama establishes Constitutional Review Committee

President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated a Constitutional Review Committee to advance the review process of Ghana's 1992 Constitution.

The committee, chaired by legal scholar Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, includes prominent figures such as former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei.

It is tasked with addressing gaps identified in previous reviews, including those by the 2010 Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative Committee.

A statement from Felix Ofosu Kwakye, Acting Presidential Spokesperson, outlined the committee’s mandate to engage stakeholders, solicit views, and recommend amendments to enhance governance.

The committee has five months to submit its recommendations.
