Felix Ofosu Kwakye, spokesperson for President-Elect John Dramani Mahama’s transitional team, has assured Ghanaians that Mahama is committed to reviving the economy. He highlighted the need to stabilize the economy, strengthen the cedi, and reduce inflation to ease financial hardships.
At a meeting of the joint transition team, concerns were raised about last-minute payments and mass recruitment, including a 240 million Ghana cedi payment to a former Electricity Company of Ghana contractor.
Kwakye stated that these issues would be reviewed, with a committee formed to address them. Mahama, in his discussions, emphasized restoring economic growth, stabilizing the currency, and addressing inflation, noting Ghana’s past debt issues and its impact on the country’s credit rating.
