Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused President John Mahama’s administration of unfairly dismissing professionals and replacing them with party loyalists. During a parliamentary debate on the 2025 budget, he lamented the widespread sackings, arguing they were politically motivated.
“In less than three months, all we hear is ‘sack them, sack them,’” he said, warning the NDC to use its mandate wisely. He also slammed the government for failing to prioritize the much-touted 24-hour economy policy in the budget, calling it deceptive.
Afenyo-Markin criticized the NDC’s ‘Big Push’ infrastructure plan, questioning its feasibility given the budget allocations. He also accused the government of sidelining the Education Ministry in managing Free SHS. “Instead of completing Agenda 111 hospitals, you are here lamenting,” he added.
The budget debate remains heated as both sides defend their positions.
