Governance expert Professor Baffour Agyeman-Duah has challenged President John Dramani Mahama. He wants the president to explain why he hasn't fulfilled all 26 promises. These were supposed to be delivered within the first 120 days of his return to office.
On Citi Eyewitness News, Prof Agyeman-Duah expressed concern about political promises. He urged Mahama to be transparent about unmet commitments. He noted that not all promises would be achieved in 120 days.
Prof Agyeman-Duah said this reflects how politicians often exaggerate their capabilities. He believes this raises questions about the president's commitment. However, he acknowledged that Mahama has made some progress.
He pointed out that six outstanding promises cannot be overlooked. The professor stated that Mahama needs to respond to these unmet promises. An explanation would reinforce the new transparency emerging in his government.
President Mahama announced a 120-day action plan with 26 key promises upon taking office. His early achievements include forming a lean cabinet and abolishing burdensome taxes like the E-Levy and Betting Tax. He also launched initiatives such as “Tree for Life” and “Blue Water.”
Additionally, he introduced a Code of Conduct for appointees and held national dialogues on the economy and education. However, several pledges remain pending, including a full rollout of the 24-hour economy and tax reviews on vehicles. This has led to public scrutiny and calls for accountability.
