Gender activist and NDC Communications Bureau member Shamima Muslim has commended President John Dramani Mahama's strides in forming a diverse and inclusive government, as part of his pledge to appoint 60 ministers.
Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile, she emphasized Mahama’s commitment to gender equality, youth involvement, and experienced leadership.
Madam Muslim highlighted that women currently occupy 28% of cabinet positions, nearing the President’s goal of 30%. She expressed optimism that this percentage will rise with appointments in State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and other agencies, contributing to a more inclusive administration.
Quoting Mahama’s vision of creating “the most representative government Ghana has ever had,” she underlined that his focus on inclusivity will drive progress and benefit the country.
Beyond diversity, she lauded his commitment to accountability, referencing the NDC manifesto’s promise to enforce a public conduct and standards policy to uphold high ethical standards within the administration.
Shamima Muslim also noted the ongoing vetting process reflects Mahama’s emphasis on competence, with appointees bringing valuable experience from both government and opposition, fostering effective governance and stability.
She expressed confidence in the President’s efforts, stating that the final cabinet will embody professionalism, inclusivity, and accountability.
