Mahama pardons Sammy Gyamfi over dollar gift to Agradaa

President John Dramani Mahama announced no further action against Sammy Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board. This decision follows a controversial video that went viral. The video showed him giving U.S. dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa.

The video sparked public criticism and raised legal concerns. Many worried it violated Ghana’s Foreign Exchange Act and Code of Conduct. Civil society groups and minority caucus members called for his dismissal. They argued his actions undermined public trust in government officials.

Despite this, President Mahama accepted Gyamfi’s public apology. He decided to close the matter with a stern warning. Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, shared the President's stance at a press briefing.

Kwakye Ofosu stated that while the incident is regrettable, no further action will be taken. However, Mr. Gyamfi received a firm warning to follow the Code of Conduct closely. All public appointees must act in ways that maintain public confidence.

Kwakye Ofosu emphasized the President's commitment to accountability and ethical governance. He noted that this situation did not justify Gyamfi’s removal from office.

Channel One TV will host AgriFair to showcase Ghana’s agricultural potential.
