Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Director of Communications for the Bawumia 2024 campaign, has criticized the Mahama administration's 120-day social contract. He claims it lacks substance and is driven by electoral rhetoric. Aboagye spoke on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on May 7.
He accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of creating the contract to win votes in 2024. According to him, there is no practical roadmap for implementation. "They came into office on lies and promises," he said.
Aboagye argued that the Mahama-led administration has reacted to challenges instead of executing a policy agenda. "In the past 120 days, they have adjusted to daily realities," he stated. He questioned what deliverables were achieved during this period.
He accused the government of prioritizing showmanship over substantive reforms. "The tangibles have not been done," he remarked. He noted that fulfilling significant goals in just 120 days is difficult.
The Mahama administration launched the 120-day social contract as priority actions for its first four months. Key deliverables include appointing a full cabinet and reducing ministerial numbers. They also introduced a Code of Conduct for public officials.
Additionally, initiatives like “Tree for Life” and “Blue Water” were launched. The No Fee Stress program aims to ease financial pressures on parents of basic school students.
On fiscal matters, the government abolished several taxes, including E-Levy and Betting Tax. They pledged to remove the Covid-19 Levy in the next national budget.
