Dr. Gideon Boako, Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament’s Finance Committee, has accused President John Mahama’s administration of overspending despite promising lean governance.

Speaking on Metro TV, he argued that Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who criticized Akufo-Addo’s government for excessive expenditure, is now presiding over even higher spending.

Dr. Boako revealed that while Akufo-Addo’s government spent GH¢250 billion in 2024, Mahama plans to spend GH¢290 billion in 2025.

He also pointed out a sharp rise in budgetary allocations to the Office of Government Machinery, communications, and research.

Questioning the government’s fiscal discipline, he urged Ghanaians to scrutinize the administration’s financial decisions and demand accountability.
