Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has emphasized the need for harmonized policies and laws to enhance connectivity and infrastructure development across Africa.
Speaking at the Africa Prosperity Dialogue (APD) in Accra on February 1, 2025, he urged state parties to agree on key principles in sectors like energy, telecommunications, and investments to advance the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Ayariga warned that fragmented regulations could hinder AfCFTA’s success, stressing that national laws should align with regional agreements.
He called for prioritization of sectors needing urgent standardization, drawing parallels with the European Union’s integration model.
Without enforcement, he cautioned, unilateral national policies could undermine Africa’s economic unification efforts.
