Michael Kpakpo Allotey is the new Mayor of Accra. He received all 30 votes from Assembly Members. This confirmation happened during a Special General Assembly Meeting at Accra City Hall.
The Electoral Commission oversaw the meeting. Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo praised the decision. She urged members to prioritize development over politics.
In his acceptance speech, Allotey thanked President John Dramani Mahama. He promised to build on the achievements of previous mayors. Allotey aims to “reset Accra” and address key urban issues.
These issues include sanitation, congestion, and youth unemployment. Allotey is an experienced entrepreneur and logistics expert. He has over a decade of experience in real estate, petroleum, and transport sectors.
Assembly Members, traditional leaders, and residents celebrated his confirmation with joy.
