Local Government Minister Ahmed Ibrahim has urged deeper regional collaboration to address pressing threats such as violent extremism, climate change, and economic instability.

Speaking at a regional coordination platform in Cotonou, Benin, he stressed that national efforts alone are insufficient, calling for collective action among Ghana, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, and Togo.

The forum, part of the $450 million World Bank-supported Social Cohesion (SOCO) Project, seeks to enhance security and economic opportunities in vulnerable border regions.

Mr. Ibrahim emphasized youth empowerment, job creation, and skills training as crucial to fostering resilience. He also called for sustained investment in governance and inclusive social services to ensure long-term stability in the Gulf of Guinea region.
