Minority MPs disperse after solidarity protest for Wontumi fails to yield results

Minority Members of Parliament gathered outside the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) in Accra. They showed solidarity with detained NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi.

Despite their support, Wontumi remains in custody. His lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, is hopeful that bail conditions will be met soon.

The Minority MPs demanded Wontumi's release. They accused EOCO of abusing power and political persecution.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin condemned how Wontumi was treated. He stated, “If there are genuine concerns to investigate, let them be pursued fairly.” He emphasized the need for transparency and dignity in such matters.

The protest caused significant traffic congestion on Independence Link before the MPs left EOCO premises.
