The Minority in Parliament has blamed erratic power supply, popularly known as ‘dumsor,’ for the devastating fire that swept through Kumasi’s Adum business district, injuring nine people and destroying shops.

According to Subin MP Kofi Obiri Yeboah, eyewitnesses claimed the fire ignited when power was restored after an outage. He urged the government to resolve the crisis and called for international aid for affected traders.

The Ghana National Fire Service faced logistical setbacks, hampering their response.

However, Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor cautioned against speculation, stressing the need for a thorough investigation.

While authorities probe the cause, business owners are demanding urgent support to recover from their losses.
