Dr. Rasheed Draman, Executive Director of the African Centre for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA), has criticized the effectiveness of walkouts as a political strategy for the NPP Minority in the 9th Parliament.
In an interview with Citi News on January 25, Dr. Draman highlighted the lack of strategic advantage for the NPP in the current Parliament, with the NDC holding an overwhelming majority of over 180 seats.
He compared this to the NDC’s positioning in the 8th Parliament, where their numerical strength allowed them to disrupt government business, though they failed to capitalize on this.
Dr. Draman argued that the NPP Minority’s walkout attempts in the 9th Parliament would be ineffective, as quorum could still be formed without them.
