The Minority in Parliament has vowed to petition the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after the criminal charges against Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiamah, the acting Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), were dropped.

Speaking on February 5, 2025, Dr. Gideon Boako, the Minority spokesperson, stressed that the decision to discontinue the case raises serious concerns over governance and accountability.

The Minority warned that halting the prosecution could damage Ghana’s international reputation, with global financial institutions potentially reconsidering business dealings with the country.

They argued that unresolved legal issues surrounding Dr. Asiamah could undermine confidence in his leadership at the BoG.

The Minority plans to formally inform the IMF of these concerns, citing potential risks to Ghana’s financial stability.
