The Movement for Change (MFC) has welcomed the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo. They believe the process follows the constitutional framework in Article 146.
In a statement signed by Solomon Owusu, the MFC said, "The President's action, taken on the advice of the Council of State, adheres to Article 146."
However, they called for transparency in removing state officials. The MFC urged the Constitutional Review Committee to improve this process.
"We wish for a more transparent process for all Ghanaians," the statement read. They noted that this transparency is not guaranteed by the 1992 constitution.
The movement advised political parties to avoid politicizing this issue. They emphasized allowing legal processes to take their course.
Additionally, the MFC criticized the Ghana Bar Association (GBA). They disagreed with GBA's call to suspend Chief Justice Torkornoo’s suspension.
"We would agree if their call was based on relevant laws," they stated.
The MFC reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law. They want constitutional processes to be carried out with integrity.
"Let us rise above partisan divides and strengthen our democracy," they concluded.
