The Movement for Change has sharply criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP). They accuse the NPP of abandoning its founding principles. This criticism follows a violent incident during the party’s “Thank You” tour. Reports indicate that a student was stabbed at one of these events.
Andrew Appiah-Danquah, a spokesperson for the Movement for Change, spoke on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue. He condemned the stabbing and criticized the NPP harshly. “A simple thank you, and a student has been stabbed,” he said. He noted that someone is now fighting for their life.
Appiah-Danquah linked this attack to ongoing political violence associated with the ruling party. He recalled a previous incident where one of his candidates was severely beaten during an election. “The stabbing reinforces our position,” he stated, calling the NPP a "reprobate party."
He expressed concern about the NPP's drift from democratic values. Appiah-Danquah accused them of creating an environment of violence and intolerance. “Simple thank you people are being stabbed,” he remarked.
The Movement for Change is calling for greater accountability within the NPP. They urge all political parties to uphold democracy, law, and order in Ghana.
