Some National Democratic Congress (NDC) footsoldiers have launched scathing attacks on the Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Felix Gyamfi, accusing him of frustrating efforts to secure special postings and repostings for national service personnel.
Their discontent stems from a decision by the newly appointed director to block access to reposting avenues, a move they argue contradicts promises made to party-aligned groups, particularly the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) during the campaign.
The criticism has been led by Julian Cobbinah, a key member of the NDC’s 2020 campaign team and co-author of the youth manifesto, who took to social media to voice his frustration.
“It is the audacity, gusto, tough talking and looking down on the party base by the CEO of the National Service Authority that amazes me,” Cobbinah wrote.
He recalled the challenges the party faced in 2016 due to dissatisfaction among student groups and warned that history could repeat itself if current concerns are ignored. Cobbinah emphasized that the NSA director had no known role in the reconciliation efforts that helped re-energize the NDC's student wing post-2016, yet now holds a powerful position thanks to the party’s electoral victory.
“The party belongs to all of us. Government is a gift for those who get appointed. He should keep that in mind,” Cobbinah added.
He urged TEIN Coordinators to protest what he described as unfair treatment, suggesting that political appointees only respond when their own positions are at risk.
“These students are not asking for much,” Cobbinah concluded, calling on party leadership to act swiftly to prevent further internal dissatisfaction.
So far, the NSA has not publicly responded to the backlash.
