NDC Spain secretary demands swift prosecution of corrupt former officials

Mr. Hanson Dartey, Acting Secretary of the NDC Spain Branch, has called for swift prosecution of former officials accused of embezzlement. He believes accountability is essential to restore public trust in governance.

In an exclusive interview, Mr. Dartey highlighted ongoing investigations into high-profile corruption cases. These cases involve the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). Allegations include financial misappropriation, dubious contracts, and abuse of office.

Public frustration over economic challenges is rising. Calls for accountability are increasing due to findings from forensic audits and parliamentary reports.

Responding to criticism from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Dartey emphasized that true accountability requires support for anti-corruption efforts. He stated, “These are not mere political errors; they are crimes against the Republic.”

He accused key figures from the previous administration of significant financial misconduct. This includes former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and others involved in alleged corruption.

Mr. Dartey urged caution against giving platforms to those facing corruption allegations. He said, “We shouldn’t entertain or promote those who contributed to our economic decline.”

He warned that framing these issues as a political witch-hunt is dangerous. Ghanaians deserve leaders committed to service rather than exploitation.

When asked about expectations from NDC’s diaspora branches, Mr. Dartey confirmed their support for restoring fiscal discipline and rule of law. He described accountability as a “moral and national duty,” not a political vendetta.

As evidence of progress, he mentioned the recent detention of Bernard Antwi Boasiako by EOCO. This shows that no one is above the law.

With ongoing anti-corruption investigations expanding, Mr. Dartey's message resonates with many calling for justice in Ghana. The NDC abroad insists: “Let justice be done — it must reach everyone, regardless of status.”
