The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has filed an appeal challenging the Accra High Court’s January 4 ruling directing the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete collation of results in Tema Central, Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central, and Techiman South by January 6.
The court’s decision, based on mandamus applications by New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates, mandates armed police presence to ensure safety during the process.
Presiding Judge Forson Agyapong outlined the legal basis for mandamus applications, including proof of a public duty and refusal to perform it.
The NDC’s appeal, which also contests the court’s January 1 decision, underscores their concerns about the orders' implications for these contentious constituencies.
The case is set to intensify as the Court of Appeal reviews the matter.
