NDC clears misunderstanding over Upper East Minister’s welcome event

The NDC's Upper East Regional Bureau has addressed misreported claims about a welcome durbar for Hon. Donatus Akamugri Atanga, the newly appointed Regional Minister, held on February 2, 2025, in Pwalugu.

Media outlets suggested the minister engaged in cash spraying during the event, but the NDC clarified that the money given to traditional performers was not Atanga’s personal funds.

Instead, the money, totaling GHC100 in GHC5 notes, was provided by NDC Regional Vice Chairman Issaka Haruna.

The wind scattered the notes, which may have created the misleading impression.

The NDC emphasized Atanga’s well-known humility, distancing him from accusations of extravagant behavior, and reiterated his dedication to responsible leadership and governance.
