NPP's 'Thank You Tour' is Bawumia's desperate attempt to revive his political career - Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi is the National Communications Officer for the NDC. He has criticized the NPP's nationwide tour.

He called it a "desperate effort" by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. This comes after the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

On JoyNews’ Newsfile, Mr. Gyamfi dismissed the NPP’s claims about the tour. He said it is not a sincere "thank you" gesture to supporters. Instead, he believes it is a campaign strategy to rebrand Bawumia before the NPP’s presidential primaries.

Mr. Gyamfi stated, “What the NPP is doing is not a thank you tour.” He added that it is an attempt by Dr. Bawumia to revive his political career after a significant defeat.

He accused the NPP of using its resources to support Bawumia unfairly. This gives him an advantage over other potential candidates within the party.

Gyamfi also criticized Bawumia for distancing himself from President Akufo-Addo's administration. He noted that Bawumia served as Vice President and led the Economic Management Team for eight years.

“Look at who they’re meeting—party executives, not ordinary Ghanaians,” he said. He questioned if there were any real thank you messages during these meetings.

“All we hear is Bawumia blaming others for their defeat,” he added. “This is just a charade of a thank you tour.”
