Alhaji Osman Masawudu is the 3rd National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He claims that operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) tried to unlawfully seize his vehicle in Shiashie-East Legon, Accra.
Masawudu spoke about the incident on Original TV with Kwaku Owusu Adjei. He said it happened when he sent his driver to buy bread. Six men, claiming to be NIB personnel, confronted his driver and attempted to take the car.
“My driver called me from Shiashie,” he recounted. “Six men claiming to be from the NIB tried to forcibly take the car.” Masawudu quickly went to the scene. They then went to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), where he proved ownership of the vehicle.
He clarified that his customized Toyota Land Cruiser is not state property. The car was purchased in Dubai in 2020 by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a personal vehicle. After using it for over a year, he gave it to NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, who later passed it on to Masawudu.
“I even went to the President for confirmation,” he said. “He personally handed over the car documents to me.”
Masawudu also accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of intimidating political opponents. He warned that such actions threaten democratic principles.
“The illegal attacks on Ghanaian citizens are becoming too much,” he claimed. “This is especially true now that they are in power.”
