NPP 2nd Vice Chair heads to court over fake statements attributed to her in fake Mike Ocquaye report

Rita Talata Asobayire, the Second Vice Chairperson of the NPP, denied media reports. These reports claimed she blamed the party's General Secretary for their 2024 election defeat.

She stated she never spoke to the Mike Oquaye committee. She is shocked that statements were attributed to her and published.

"I made no such statement anywhere," she said in a statement. "It is complete fabrication by whoever authored it for political mischief."

Asobayire added that she has not interacted with the Oquaye Committee. She was not in the jurisdiction when they met with National Executives. This fact was communicated to the Committee.

She plans to take legal action to clear her name.

In her statement, she addressed a quote circulating on social media. The quote claimed she called General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong “an armchair leader.” It also alleged his actions contributed to the party’s poor performance.

Asobayire emphasized that these claims are false. She noted that the Party has not released any part of the Oquaye Committee’s Report yet.

She criticized those spreading these quotes, including Opera News. She demanded an immediate cessation of this conduct and a retraction from Opera News.

If her demands are not met, she will proceed to court. Lastly, Asobayire affirmed her good working relationship with the General Secretary. His leadership style is firm and politically astute, making such comments inconceivable for her.
