Outgoing Majority Leader and MP for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has warned the incoming NDC government against nominating a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Effutu.

Addressing party supporters, he emphasized that the NPP controls the area due to its dominance in the local Assembly.

Afenyo-Markin declared, “We are the government in Effutu,” citing the NPP's hold on all Assembly seats and the Presiding Member.

He assured supporters that the NPP would resist any attempts to appoint an MCE, drawing applause.

Effutu remains a stronghold for the NPP, with Afenyo-Markin securing the parliamentary seat since defeating NDC's Mike Allen Hammah in 2013.
