Dr. Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe, a founding member of the NPP, has criticized party leadership. He is unhappy with how they handled the arrest of Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi.
In an interview on JoyNews, Dr. Tamakloe said the party "has no leadership." He expressed disappointment at the silence from national executives after Wontumi's detention by EOCO.
Wontumi was arrested on Wednesday and remains in custody. He was denied bail, with conditions set at GH₵50 million. Many NPP supporters view this amount as politically motivated and excessive.
The arrest has led to protests from party members. They stormed the EOCO headquarters on Thursday demanding his release.
Dr. Tamakloe, a former GFA chairman, believes the leadership vacuum is causing internal divisions. His comments reflect growing tension within the NPP regarding Wontumi's situation.
Some members accuse EOCO of targeting Wontumi for political reasons. Others, like Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, call for due process.
Security has been increased at the NIB headquarters where Wontumi is now held.
