Former Ghana Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of exploiting his popularity for political gain during the 2024 General Elections.
In an Instagram Live session, Gyan expressed disappointment over his involvement with the party's campaign.
Initially joining Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s sports manifesto team in February 2024, Gyan's association with the NPP surprised many fans.
However, after a viral video of an altercation with an NPP official, he distanced himself from the party, citing a focus on his humanitarian work.
Gyan claimed the NPP used his fame to gain votes, but the party suffered a major loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 2024 presidential election.
