The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced its leadership for the 9th Parliament, appointing Alexander Afenyo-Markin as Minority Leader, with Patricia Apiagyei as Deputy Minority Leader and Frank Annoh-Dompreh as Chief Whip.

This leadership team faces significant challenges following the party’s steep decline in parliamentary strength, dropping from 137 seats to 81 after the 2024 elections.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) now dominates the 9th Parliament with over 180 seats.

As the NPP transitions into the minority, its leaders aim to foster cohesion and adapt strategies to influence legislative priorities effectively.

Preparations are underway for a meeting with the party’s MPs-elect to outline roles and responsibilities ahead of Parliament's inauguration.
