The Minority in Parliament is demanding a thorough audit of Ghana’s energy sector, alleging that its debt has surpassed $2 billion.
They blame the government’s mishandling of funds from the Energy Sector Levy Act (ESLA) and highlight that the Ministry of Finance owes GH¢1.8 billion for power used by MDAs since August 2023.
John Jinapor, the Ranking Member on the Energy Committee, accused President Akufo-Addo’s administration of neglecting the sector, potentially leaving a troubled energy sector for John Mahama’s future government.
