NPP’s failure on One Village, One Dam led to vote decline in the North – Alabi

Professor Joshua Alabi Professor Joshua Alabi

Professor Joshua Alabi, Campaign Manager for John Mahama’s 2024 bid, has dissected the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) poor performance in the Northern regions during the 2024 elections.

Speaking on The Point of View with Bernard Avle, Prof. Alabi highlighted unfulfilled promises as the main reason voters shifted to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NPP, led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, had campaigned on initiatives like "One Village, One Dam" and allocating $1 million per constituency.

However, Prof. Alabi noted these pledges remained largely unfulfilled, leading to voter dissatisfaction.

He argued that the electorate viewed the NDC as more accountable, reflecting in their increased parliamentary seats and presidential votes in the region.

“The Northern people shifted back to their own man who had been truthful and delivered,” Prof. Alabi concluded.
