Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Gifty Oware-Mensah, arrived in Ghana yesterday but was not arrested at Kotoka International Airport as initially planned by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).
Speaking to the press, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin criticized the approach, stating that legal protocols should be followed.
Oware-Mensah is expected to visit the NIB with her lawyers to respond to allegations.
The government has uncovered 81,885 suspected ghost names on the NSS payroll, which allegedly cost the state GH₵50 million monthly.
The NIB has already questioned former NSS Deputy Director Kwaku Ohene Djan, and extradition efforts are underway for other suspects believed to have fled the country.
