National Security raid was to plant cocaine, weed, or gold in my home - Wontumi alleges

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, is known as Chairman Wontumi. He claims that a recent raid on his home was an attempt to frame him.

Wontumi says credible sources informed him about the raid. He believes security operatives planned to plant cocaine, marijuana, or gold in his home. This would falsely implicate him in criminal activity.

He shared these claims during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen. Wontumi stated that the operatives would have succeeded if they had entered his residence.

The raid happened around 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025. About 20 heavily armed police officers arrived in five vehicles.

Despite feeling unwell, Wontumi blocked the officers at the gate. They were trying to force their way into his house.

He criticized the security forces' approach. He argued that if he were guilty, they should have invited him for questioning instead.

“I am not hard to find or ignore invitations,” he said. “President Mahama should speak to his appointees about their methods.”

Wontumi also confirmed a statement from his aide, Oheneba Nana Asiedu. His aide mentioned a previous police invitation. Wontumi plans to honor it and report to authorities on Monday, May 26, 2025.
