Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has slammed recent National Security raids on the residences of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison, cautioning that the operations are damaging President John Mahama’s reputation.
The controversial searches, which involved security personnel questioning household members and seizing CCTV equipment from Dr. Addison’s home, have sparked public outrage.
Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem Sai has defended the raids, insisting they were legally sanctioned.
However, critics argue the operations are politically motivated attempts to intimidate opposition figures.
In a post on X, Afenyo-Markin accused the government of weaponizing security agencies against its political rivals, describing the situation as a threat to Ghana’s democracy.
He urged President Mahama to act swiftly, warning that continued state-led intimidation could erode public trust in government institutions.
