The Minority in Parliament has voiced strong opposition to the lack of representation for the Ablekuma North constituency in the 9th Parliament.

In protest, they have declared that they will not participate in government business until a duly sworn-in Member of Parliament is in place.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has struggled to declare a winner for the seat due to ongoing disputes during the collation process, resulting in delays.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin criticized the EC for its failure to resolve the issue, attributing the disruption to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The Minority has called on the EC and other stakeholders to expedite the process.

On January 17, 2025, the Greater Accra Regional Office of the EC was attacked by suspected NDC-affiliated thugs during the resumption of the collation exercise.
