The Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its constitutional independence, rejecting external pressure to hasten the declaration of the Ablekuma North Parliamentary results.

Deputy Director of Research, Fred Tetteh, emphasized that the EC operates under the 1992 Constitution and will not be swayed by political demands.

The delay stems from discrepancies in figures from three polling stations, as well as concerns over missing electoral materials, necessitating thorough verification.

Addressing the issue on GHOne TV, Mr. Tetteh assured the public that the declaration would be made after due process, stressing that no ultimatum from political parties, including the NPP and NDC, would override the Commission’s commitment to transparency and accuracy in the electoral process.
