Rev. Ntim Fordjour, the Assin South MP, has pushed back against claims of political intimidation, asserting that no opposition MP was ever harassed by state security during the previous administration.

Speaking amid backlash over an alleged attempt to arrest him by National Investigations Bureau operatives, the former Deputy Education Minister insisted his party respected democratic norms while in power. He said their approach to political opposition was grounded in dialogue and tolerance, not intimidation.

His comments come as Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin condemned the incident, urging the current government to uphold democratic principles.

Fordjour’s statement adds to growing concerns over the use of security agencies in political matters, reigniting debate about fairness and the rule of law ahead of the 2028 general elections.
