Frank Davies, legal counsel for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, has responded sharply to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). He criticized their claims about Ofori-Atta's absence from scheduled appearances.
In an interview with Citi Eyewitness News, Mr. Davies called the OSP’s statements “a blatant falsehood.” He expressed concern over what he sees as a lack of diligence from the Special Prosecutor.
Davies stated, “I have said many times that for the OSP to say he hasn’t seen that medical report is a blatant falsehood. It is unfortunate that he holds such a public office.”
This controversy began on June 2, 2025. The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, claimed Mr. Ofori-Atta had not submitted any documentation for his health-related absence.
Agyebeng accused the former minister of acting in bad faith and said their patience had "been exhausted."
However, Frank Davies firmly countered this claim. He stated that the medical report was included in court documents served to the OSP on May 27.
“The processes filed in court on May 27 included the medical report,” Davies explained.
He added, “Unless he doesn’t read his court processes thoroughly, saying he hasn’t seen any medical report is a blatant falsehood. As an officer of the court, I find it distressing.”
