Former Deputy Education Minister Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has criticized the government’s upcoming National Education Forum, labeling it an unnecessary drain on resources.
Set to begin on February 18 and conclude with a validation conference on February 27, the forum aims to shape educational policy.
However, Fordjour argues that President Mahama should focus on implementing his campaign promises, including extending Free SHS to private schools, covering first-year tertiary fees, and abolishing the double-track system.
He contends that Ghana already has a comprehensive education strategic plan (2018–2030) aligned with the SDGs, making the forum redundant.
Fordjour urges the government to prioritize action over further deliberation, stressing that voters expect immediate policy execution, not additional discussions.
