The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffuor Awuah, has called for the reallocation of the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) budget to the Attorney General’s Office, citing the OSP’s ineffectiveness in combating corruption.

During a debate on the OSP’s 2025 budget estimate of GHS 146 million, Awuah, a member of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, argued that after nearly eight years, the OSP has failed to secure a single conviction, while the Attorney General’s office and EOCO have successfully prosecuted corruption cases.

He also noted that the OSP currently has only three criminal cases pending and lacks significant focus on Auditor General reports. He urged a reassessment of the OSP’s mandate, suggesting the Attorney General could deliver better results.
