Our closure is politically motivated – Gumah FM

The management of Gumah FM in Bawku has accused the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation of discrimination following the station’s sudden closure.

On February 18, 2025, the Ministry ordered the station to cease operations, citing national security concerns based on intelligence reports.

Officials claimed Gumah FM was inciting violence and disrupting public order.

However, the station's management strongly refutes these allegations, insisting they have not engaged in any unlawful activity.

In a Facebook statement, they described the move as politically motivated, raising concerns about press freedom and fairness.

The shutdown has sparked debate, with many questioning whether media suppression is at play.
