Our supporters are protecting state properties, not stealing them – Gbande

Mustapha Gbande, Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has defended the actions of party supporters accused of vandalizing state properties and attacking institutions.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News, Gbande described the individuals as protectors of state assets rather than perpetrators of violence. He emphasized that their actions aimed to prevent theft of government resources during the transition period.

“These young people are determined to stop the impunity of looting government property. While their approach may be unfortunate, their intention is to safeguard state assets,” he stated.

Gbande added that the NDC is working with the police and officials of the former administration to address the situation and restore calm.

The comments have sparked mixed reactions, with many calling for clarity on the allegations.
