Outgoing Education Minister accused of misusing public funds amid transition

Abass Nurudeen, the Ashanti Regional Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has raised allegations of financial mismanagement against Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the outgoing Minister of Education.

Abass accused Dr. Adutwum of plans to sponsor individuals on business-class trips to the UK, calling it a misuse of public funds and a betrayal of public trust. He emphasized the ethical responsibilities of government officials, stating, "Your position is a public trust, not a personal privilege."

These allegations emerge as Ghana prepares for a leadership transition, with President-elect John Dramani Mahama set to assume office on January 7, 2025.

The NDC has vowed to prioritize integrity and transparency in governance under the new administration.
