Henrietta Lamptey, the outgoing Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry, is under scrutiny for fast-tracking a controversial “capacity-building” workshop amid claims of attempting to deplete $1.5 million in donor funds before the incoming administration takes over.
Set to take place at NODA Hotel in Kumasi from February 2025, the workshop is officially marketed as a training on data collection and statistical analysis.
However, insiders suggest that this is a move to quickly exhaust the final tranche of a $3 million donor package.
With the funds’ final installment received in mid-January, critics argue the timing of the event raises concerns of financial mismanagement and calls for swift intervention by President Mahama to halt this spending.
