PMMC slams NDC-led mob over alleged gold smuggling

The Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) has condemned a mob led by NDC’s National Organiser, Joseph Yammin, for disrupting operations at its National Assay Centre on December 17, 2024.

The group alleged bullion bars, belonging to the Bank of Ghana and being processed under the Domestic Gold Purchase Program, were being smuggled.

Police intervened to secure the bullion, moving it to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command.

A private exporter’s gold consignment was also affected.

PMMC refuted the claims, warning that such actions could harm Ghana’s reputation in the global gold market.

The company called for due verification of allegations to prevent similar incidents and reiterated its commitment to transparency and compliance. Investigations are ongoing.
