Parliament hints at probes into COVID funds, Agyapa, PDS scandals

Parliament's second meeting will focus on accountability.

There will be investigations into past financial scandals.

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga announced this plan.

The Majority Caucus will lead probes into COVID-19 spending, the Agyapa Royalties deal, and the $190 million PDS scandal.

Ayariga stated, “There must be consequences for brazen plunder of public resources.”

He warned that “the gravest danger to our democracy is impunity.”

Parliament will also seek updates on Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).

This includes reviewing $20 billion in financial crimes.

Ayariga criticized the previous administration's use of sole-sourced contracts.

He promised a thorough examination of procurement practices.

He stressed that this effort is not about revenge.

It aims to restore integrity and justice in public finance management.

The Majority Caucus plans to hold the Special Prosecutor accountable too.

Ayariga said, “We will adopt U.S.-style committee hearings to unravel systemic corruption.”

He concluded, “This House will not stand idle while public funds are looted with impunity.”
